Table Talk Tuesday – Understanding the Different Bets in Roulette

Straight Up Bet

This is the simplest bet of all.

You place your chips on one individual number.

If the ball lands on your chosen number, you win!

Payout: 35 to 1

Split Bet

A Split Bet covers two numbers by placing your chips on the line between them.

For example, betting on 17 & 20.

Payout: 17 to 1

Street Bet

A Street Bet covers three numbers in a row.

For example, 1, 2 and 3.

Payout: 11 to 1

Corner Bet

A Corner Bet covers four numbers that meet at one corner.

For example, 1, 2, 4 and 5.

Payout: 8 to 1

Six Line Bet

A Six Line Bet covers six numbers across two rows.

For example, 1–6.

Payout: 5 to 1

Red or Black

Probably the most popular bet for beginners.

Simply choose whether the winning number will be Red or Black.

Payout: 1 to 1

Odd or Even

Bet on whether the winning number will be Odd or Even.

Payout: 1 to 1

High or Low

Choose whether the winning number will be:

Low (1–18) or

High (19–36)

Payout: 1 to 1

Dozens

Bet on one of three groups:

1–12

13–24

25–36

Payout: 2 to 1

Columns

Instead of dozens, you can bet on one of the three vertical columns on the table.

Payout: 2 to 1

One of the biggest mistakes I see is people thinking they have to understand every bet before they can play.

You really don't.

If it's your first time, start with Red or Black, Odd or Even, or a Dozen Bet. They're simple, easy to understand and a great way to get involved.
